DAVISBORO, Ga. (WGXA) — Three people were arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs and other contraband at Washington State Prison last week.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, around 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 11, Deputies and Davisboro police responded to reports of two suspicious males near the prison.
After searching the area, deputies spotted the two males and initiated a search, where photos show they discovered drugs, cigarettes, cellphones and other contraband items that the suspects were attempting to smuggle into the prison.

Another person was spotted in a vehicle near a local church and was taken into custody.
WCSO arrested 24-year-old Dominique Davis of Augusta, 49-year-old Christopher Colonel of Waynesboro and 27-year-old Janisha Jordan of Waynesboro. Each was charged with one count of possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and three counts of trading with inmates.
Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran added the following in the release:
"We take contraband threats seriously and will continue to hold everyone involved accountable. The message is simple, if you try to smuggle into our facilities, you will be caught."
WCSO says the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
