Description
TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) — The Tift County Landfill and the Inert Landfill are increasing the cost to dispose of one ton of waste.
The new rates reflect a need to cover rising Landfill operational costs and future capital improvements, according to a news release from the city of Tifton.
The current rate for the Tifton-Tift County Landfill is $42 per ton. The new rate per ton will be $47 per ton. That rate increase is roughly 11%.
The Inert Landfill for yard waste will go up by over 50%. The previous cost per ton was $18. The new rate will be $28 per ton. That is roughly a 55.6% increase in service cost.
The increase for the tipping fee per ton may increase monthly billing rates for individual homes or businesses, according to the City of Tifton.
Those with questions on the new rates should reach out to their trash provider for specific rate changes.
The new tipping fee goes into effect on August 1, 2026.
