GEORGIA (WALB) - Two Democrats are hoping to clinch their party’s nomination on May 19 for Commissioner of Agriculture and advance to the General Election in November. The primary winner will face Republican Incumbent Tyler Harper to represent Georgia’s number one industry.

Tyler Harper is Georgia’s 17th Agriculture Commissioner, and according to his official website, is a “7th generation farmer, small businessman, proud native of rural South Georgia.” He was sworn into the position in Jan. 2023 and has since established the Georgia Farmland Conservation Fund and has helped spearhead the “Georgia Grown” program.
Previously, Harper served as a State Senator from 2012 to 2022 on the Public Safety, Natural Resources, and Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committees. Learn more about Commissioner Harper below or at tylerharperga.com/.
