BEN HILL COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Two private contractors working in food service at the Ben Hill County Jail have been arrested following an internal investigation.

According to the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office, both individuals are facing charges under Georgia law, including improper sexual contact with inmates and contraband violations involving personal cell phones.

Officials say the incidents were uncovered during a routine internal review conducted by jail administration and were immediately reported to the sheriff. The case was then investigated by the agency’s Special Operations Division.

Both contractors were taken into custody on the morning of March 27, 2026.

The sheriff’s office says it remains committed to maintaining the integrity, safety, and security of its detention facilities.
