FITZGERALD, Ga. (WALB) – Monday, Sept. 15 marks six years since a Ben Hill County mother, who was eight months pregnant, was shot to death in her front yard. No one has ever been arrested or charged in the murders of 24-year-old Ka’Sara Brown and her unborn child.

Now, the family is keeping her legacy alive with a domestic violence walk while continuing their fight for justice.
“Ka’Sara was the youngest, and we just loved her so much. It’s been difficult not getting answers and not getting the justice that we were hoping for over the last six years, but we just hold onto our faith and faith in God that someone will come forward with some information,” said Ka’Sara’s sister, Hope Harmon.
Not only did Ka’Sara lose her life, but her unborn baby’s life was also taken. When asked about the baby, who would have been about six years old now, Harmon said she would have been very loved.
“I don’t even think I thought about that. That gave me chills just thinking about it. Just how much Avianna was going to be loved. We had a baby shower, my mom had bought all these things. She was going to be the most loved baby ever. She never even got a chance at life. And for somebody to intentionally do that, it’s just terrible. To think that people in the world do things like that and remain free — because the person who did that is still free,” Harmon said.

The FBI has increased its reward to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Ka’Sara Brown’s death.
“But the community has to do their part, which is to come forward with any information they may know so that we can link all of the pieces together and get enough evidence to charge and convict somebody,” Harmon said.

There will be a domestic violence walk on Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. to support survivors and honor the victim.
“If you’re a survivor of domestic violence, we have survivors to share their stories, we have prayer and a balloon release and we just have a really good day in memory of Ka’Sara,” Harmon said.
