JEFF DAVIS COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 9 a.m. 11/16/25] Officials tell WTOC that as of late Saturday night, the fire was still burning but was under control.

Jeff Davis EMA posted to Facebook that they are still monitoring the air quality in the area. Crews will continue to monitor the air quality throughout the day and will give updates as needed and ask people to stay away.

[UPDATE 6:15 p.m. 11/15/25] The Hazlehurst Jeff Davis County Fire Department, along with many other agencies, are currently battling a massive tire and structure fires in the area of Hatton Still Rd and Amy Rd.

“If you are within a mile radius of Hatton Still Rd at Amy Rd, please, if at all possible, remain indoors. This is for your safety, as air quality is poor currently.” EMA leaders said.

Roads include but are not limited to: Hatton Still, April Rd, Ray Rd, Burns Rd, Tobacco Rd, Highland Lane, Valley Lane, Matthew Lee Rd, Hinson Farm Rd, and parts of Alma Highway.

EMA leaders also said, “As we approach nightfall, conditions will deteriorate because of massive amounts of burning tires. Parts of Hatton still/amy rd will be closed for through traffic due to fire operations.”

EPD, DNR, Georgia Forestry, and the state of Georgia fire inspector are all on scene.

The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department and First Responders are on the scene of a massive fire on Hatton Still Road.

The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office said, “The EPD has been contacted due to the substance involved in the fire.”
