VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Valdosta’s fire service family grew on Monday, June 30, as the city proudly celebrated the graduation and badge pinning ceremony for its newest firefighters.

The ceremony marked the official transition of recruits into their new roles, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and commitment to protecting the community.

It was also a moment to honor the bravery and quick response of current firefighters. Sixty-one Valdosta Fire Department members were recognized with Trauma Save Awards and Life Save Awards, presented by South Georgia Medical Center’s Emergency Services and Trauma Department. These awards acknowledge instances where firefighters’ actions directly contributed to saving lives.

“We are proud of our graduates and proud of every firefighter who gives their all to keep Valdosta safe,” the department shared.

The ceremony served as both a welcome for new recruits and a reminder of the life-saving mission every firefighter carries daily.
