TIFT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - New video circulating from Tift County shows an active police chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), early Thursday, Feb. 26, morning.

The footage shows a black sports car speeding through the area near Adcock Pecan Company while being pursued by authorities.

GSP released further details Thursday afternoon. Officials confirmed that the driver was charged with the following:

• Felony fleeing
• Driving under the influence (DUI)
• Driving while license suspended
• Possession of marijuana
• Reckless driving
• Failure to maintain lane
• Driving on the wrong side of the roadway
• Failure to wear a seatbelt

GSP said troopers in Tifton were requested to assist with the pursuit, heading north on Interstate 75, by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said GSP troopers joined the pursuit at mile marker 59, and the driver tried to exit from I-75 at exit 62 but lost control of his vehicle.

After regaining control of the vehicle, the driver reportedly continued to flee east onto 7th Street in Tifton.

As shown in the social media video, the driver lost control of his vehicle for a final time at the intersection of 7th Street and Magnolia Drive, near the Circle K.

GSP said the driver was taken into custody.
