Worth County homes damaged, roads blocked
Worth County Emergency Management officials reported the most damage in our area after strong storms rolled through Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

One home on Birch Road in Acree, Worth County was destroyed by a falling tree. A woman, who was home at the time with her two year old child, says the tree fell just eight minutes after her kids had gotten on a bus for school. Other residents in the area and the Georgia Forestry Commission clearing the road from trees and debris.
There were also trees down in Acree near Red Rock Road, prompting the Worth County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) to close the roadway between Peafowl Road and County Line Road. The sheriff’s office also reported 3 trees were completely blocking Hwy 256 in Poulan. They also reported trees down at Cordele Highway and Eldridge Street, Highway 112 North near Ephesus Church Road, and at Isabella and Hwy 82 in Sylvester. There are active detours around North Isabella Street and Bryant Drive. There is also a report of a tree on home on Livingston Street.
WCSO also reported trees blocking Highway 33 North outside of Five Points, at Woodcrest Road in Red Rock, at Doe Hill Road in Shingler, on Joe Sumner Road in Sumner, along the 2400 block of Highway 313 in Isabella, and at Massey Airport Road in Gordy.
WALB News 10’s Quinlan Parker’s family barn was also destroyed in the county. The damage extended beyond the barn itself. The Parker family also owned several horses that were kept on the property. The storm completely destroyed the stable, and sadly, one of the horses had to be put down as a result of the damage.
Other National Weather Service Reports
- Ben Hill County: Two people were injured when a shed overturned on Wren Road in Ashton.
- Calhoun County: Multiple trees down near Edison.
- Mitchell County: Tree down near GA Highway 311 in Vada.
- Coffee County: Several reports of trees and powerlines down in the West Green area. Several reports of wind damage along Sinkhole Road. Trees and powerlines down.
- Cook County: Trees down near I-75 and rest area in Wagon Wheel. Debris across highway. Irrigation Pivot overturned off of Cranford Sumner Road east of Lenox.
- Tift County: Two trees down and damage to mailbox near Omega.
- Turner County: Emergency Management reports a porch roof blown off a house on Whiddon Road. They also report a tree blown over, irrigation pivots blown over, and a barn collapsed on Reid Road.
- Brooks County: Dixie reported a 70 mph wind gust.
- Atkinson County: A mobile home being transported by semi truck was blown off trailer during transport in Pearson. A major transmission line for Georgia Power was blown down west of Willacoochee on Hwy 82. Several calls for minor structure damage was reported and several trees were blown down. No injuries have been reported.
Reports made to WALB:
- Crisp County: Powerline down on Frontage Road in front of Crisp County High School. The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office reports 12 trees down, 10 power lines down, and 4 accidents involving either trees or power lines. No injuries were reported.
- Grady County: A car crashed into a fallen tree on Highway 112.
- Dougherty County: Damage has been reported at Paradise Village of Albany on Holly Drive. High winds caused minor damage to Phoebe Urgent Care of East Albany this morning and the area is currently without power, according to the health system. Damage was also reported at Victory of Albany church. Ashwood Drive is closed between Preston Court and Cedar Court due to trees that have fallen onto power lines across the roadway. Barricades have been placed in the area to prevent traffic from entering the affected section.

- E. Broad Avenue/ N. Broadway Street
- Trees are down at:
- Pine Avenue/ Gillionville Road
- W. Roosevelt Avenue/ N. Jefferson Street
- Turner Field Rd/ Clark Avenue
- 2500-Blk Cherokee Drive
- Mobile Avenue/ Holland Drive
- N. Westover Boulevard/ Meredyth Drive
- 300-Block Lexington Drive
- 1200-Block Highland Avenue
- 200-Block Ashwood Street {Dougherty County}
- Powerlines/Wire are down at:
- 1200-Block Bonney View Drive
- 1900-Block Edgerly Avenue
- 100-Block Almond Drive
- N. Washington/ W. Roosevelt Avenue
- Traffic Lights are out at:





- Randolph County: U.S. Highway 82 between Shellman and Cuthbert was completely blocked due to power lines down. It has been reopened.
- Early County: Irrigation pivots were blown over on Highway 27 North of Blakely, and the trees are down on Jenkins Road off of Sawyer Road in Blakely per resident Cole Howard.
