ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) — After Atlanta won Game 2 with its bullpen, the Braves returned home looking to take the series lead with southpaw ace Chris Sale pitching in Game 3 and right-handed Tyler Mahle slated for Game 4. Instead, Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out 10 over seven innings, and the Dodgers beat Atlanta 3-1 in Game 3.

The fourth inning proved decisive. Chris Sale gave up back-to-back home runs to Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman, and said one bad inning spoiled an outing in which he felt his stuff was good. Freeman’s homer followed a Dodgers rally that Sale said drove up his pitch count.

The Braves face elimination in Game 4 Wednesday at Truist Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
