Description
ATKINSON COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A South Georgia mother is walking into the New Year with a focus on helping families navigate grief.
Back in October 2024, 16-year-old Darion Davis was originally hospitalized for an suspected asthma attack and later died in ICU in Savannah.
Two adult and three teenagers were charged in relation to Davis’ death, when a video surfaced of those charged allegedly beating Davis days before he went to the hospital.
After losing her son, Darion, Kimberley Davis found a way to carry on her son’s legacy through community support, healing, and wellness through her nonprofit Forever 16 Wellness -- The Darion Project.
Davis executed several community projects through the nonprofit, and now she is launching a four week online course “Everybody has a story.” The course gives her the opportunity to share with others navigating similar grief on how to grieve without losing faith.
“You don’t have to be strong. It is definitely okay to fall apart, because in the falling apart. If you could just change your perspective as tiny as a mustard seed. And understand in the falling parts is where the growth is, is where the beauty is, don’t be afraid to let go,” Davis said.
The course will begin on Sunday, Jan. 4. If you are interested in signing up for the online course you can click the link for the Eventbrite sale, or to learn more about the Darion Project.
