ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Apalachee High School students will return to school the week of September 23, according to the Barrow County School System.
Superintendent Dr. Dallas LeDuff and Apalachee High School Principal Jessica Rehberg released a video statement in a letter to families.
Rehberg said the district is planning a “thoughtful, gradual return” including on-campus mental health support and relocated classes.
On Wednesday, Sept. 4, a mass shooting at Apalachee High claimed the lives of two teachers and two students and sent nine others to the hospital. Christian Angulo, Mason Schermerhorn, Cristina Irimie and Richard Aspinwall were killed.
Classes in the district were canceled for days after the deadly shooting. On Tuesday, students returned to all Barrow County schools except Apalachee High.
Under the flagpole at Apalachee High, a makeshift memorial has been setup for Christian Angulo, Mason Schermerhorn, Richard Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie.(Blake DeVine / Atlanta News First)Copyright 2024 WANF. All rights reserved.
