Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Authorities are investigating an ATM theft that occurred Sunday morning at a Colony Bank branch located on Philema Road.
According to the Dougherty County Police Department, dispatch received a call just before 10:00 a.m. on September 21 reporting that the ATM had been forcibly removed from its base and stolen from the property.
A DCPD news release stated “an unidentified suspect, driving an unidentified vehicle took the machine from bank property”. Video recorded by WALB shows skid marks in the bank parking lot and continuing westward on Philema Road, stopping at the entrance of Chehaw Park, only a few hundred yards from the bank. The ATM appeared to have been dragged to that location.
The DCPD news release indicates that’s where investigators found the ATM later in the day. It’s unclear how much, if any, money was stolen.
Dougherty County police have not released information about arrests nor possible suspects.
Anyone with information about the ATM theft is urged to call the department at 229-430-6600 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 229-436-TIPS.
