CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - A late-night shooting involving multiple individuals in two vehicles left an innocent bystander injured Thursday night in Cordele.

According to the Cordele Police Department (CPD), officers responded to reports of gunfire in the Flint Drive area just before 11:00 p.m. on March 26, 2026. Preliminary findings indicate that individuals in two separate vehicles exchanged gunfire during the incident.

During the shooting, a woman who was sitting in her vehicle nearby suffered minor injuries after a bullet passed through her windshield. She was not struck by the bullet but was injured by shattered glass.

A Cordele police officer later spotted one of the vehicles traveling northbound near 15th Street and initiated a traffic stop. The individuals fled the vehicle on foot, but three individuals were quickly taken into custody and transported to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers recovered three firearms from the vehicle, including one reported stolen, along with marijuana.

Cordele Police thanked the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol for assisting in the case.
