CAIRO, Ga. (WALB) - A “buzzed driving is drunk driving” campaign that ended on St. Patrick’s Day in Cairo led to 171 traffic violations.
Speeding and seatbelt violations made up most violations. 55 speeding violations and 39 seatbelt violations were issued over the nine-day operation.
“The goal was simple: to keep the citizens of Cairo safe and these results show why enforcement matters.”
In total, there were:
- 55 speeding violations
- 39 seatbelt violations
- 14 child restraint violations
- 11 distracted driving (hands-free) violations
- 6 no license on person violations
- 4 move-over-law violations
- 3 expired tag violations
- 3 driving with a suspended license violations
- 13 other traffic violations
The drunk driving campaign began on March 9 and ended on March 17.
