LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) - Leesburg city officials warned residents in a Facebook post Monday, March 16, about a scam circulating in the community.

In the post, the city of Leesburg said scammers are calling or messaging local vendors asking for payment for future city events.

City officials said they will never request vendor payments over the phone or through unofficial social media pages.

The city said all communication will come from the City of Leesburg page or the city’s Senior Executive Assistant, Marylen Knights.

Officials said if you receive a call or message like this, ignore it and report it.
