THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) — The City of Thomasville has begun implementing its Parks & Recreation Master Plan, with over $11 million invested in upgrades to Balfour Park, Cassidy Park, and Paradise Park.
City Manager Chris White says city leadership is committed to improving parks through creative funding and public-private partnerships.
Phase I of Paradise Park is nearly complete, featuring restored walkways, a historic bandstand, and accessible paths. Phase II, scheduled for completion in 2027, will add a new playground, restrooms, and a native habitat restoration in partnership with Tall Timbers.
Cassidy Park improvements include a restroom facility, walking trail, pavilion, and disc golf course. Balfour Park renovations are in the design phase, with plans for new restrooms, a pavilion, and water feature.
Projects are funded through a mix of federal and state grants, local SPLOST funds, and private donations.
