COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an investigation into incident that occurred at the Coffee County Jail.

According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the incident occurred on Monday, July 7.

The sheriff’s office said, “an incident occurred within the Coffee County jail involving an individual who is currently receiving medical care.”

All appropriate family members have been notified of the situation, according to CCSO.

No other details were given, but we know that Sheriff Fred Cole has requested the GBI to conduct a full and independent investigation.
