ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Multiple Cobb County School District employees have been disciplined over comments on social media about Charlie Kirk’s death.
The employees were placed on administrative leave, and the district said they will “not be in a classroom or interacting with students or parents while on leave.”
They said they are conducting an investigation to take “appropriate personnel action,” adding that they’ll report their findings to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, the ethics board for Georgia educators, and “requesting appropriate action against their Georgia teaching license.”
“Posts that celebrate or support the murder of an innocent person by a school shooter are unprofessional and disruptive to the school environment,” the district said in a statement. “We expect Cobb educators to help students learn and grow, which requires limiting disruptions to their classrooms and school.”
Conservative political analyst Charlie Kirk was shot and killed last week as he spoke to a crowd gathered in a courtyard at at Utah Valley University.Kirk was a conservative activist and close ally of President Trump who was assassinated last week on a college campus in Utah.

The death was announced on social media by Trump, who praised the 31-year-old Kirk, the co-founder and CEO of the youth organization Turning Point USA, as “Great, and even Legendary.”
It is unclear how many teachers or staff members were disciplined.
“Professional educators are expected to exercise sound judgment and professionalism in and outside the classroom,” the district said.
