Description

DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Voters in Dougherty County’s Precinct 9 will use a temporary polling place after structural damage forced the closure of the Mount Zion site on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The building has been declared uninhabitable and is set for demolition, officials said.

The Board of Registration and Elections voted to move Precinct 9 to First Mount Olive Jake Edwards Fellowship Hall at 513 Corn Avenue, about a mile away from the previous polling place.

Officials said the new location is accessible and familiar to nearby residents and will be used until a new facility is built at Mount Zion.

County leaders said they will post signs, update the My Voter Page and mail new precinct cards to affected voters.
