WAYCROSS, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested a 68-year-old Ware County man in connection with the 1984 rape and murder of 22-year-old Sandra Kaye Davis, they announced Tuesday, March 31.
Freddie Lee Granger Jr. faces one count of rape, one count of aggravated assault, one count of malice murder and two counts of felony murder, according to the GBI.

According to the GBI, on Sept. 1, 1984, the Waycross Police Department found Davis’s body beside a home on Kollock Street in Waycross. She had been strangled, GBI said.
Police requested the GBI to assist with the investigation, and DNA testing linked Granger to the crime, officials said.
Granger was booked into the Ware County Jail on Monday, March 30.
The GBI said the investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Douglas at 912-389-4103.
