The donation was funded through Georgia’s Own annual “We Heart Our Kids” campaign, a member-driven fundraiser held each February that benefits children’s hospitals across the credit union’s footprint.

During the month-long initiative, Georgia’s Own members contributed online and at local branches to support four children’s hospitals: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Phoebe Putney Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Georgia and UF Health Jacksonville.

The Georgia’s Own Foundation also matched pledges up to $5,000. In total, the campaign generated $9,283 statewide, with $5,500 directed to Phoebe Putney.

“This donation is more than a number — it’s an investment in the well-being of the Albany community’s youngest patients. Supporting Phoebe Putney Hospital and helping expand access to critical pediatric treatment means families can receive the care they need when it matters most.”

Phoebe Putney representatives recently toured Georgia’s Own main Albany branch. They showcased the hospital’s first NICU/pediatric ambulance, allowing members and employees to see the impact of the fundraiser and learn more about the goal of adding a second specialized vehicle.

“When it comes to saving lives, time is often of the essence, so we see our goal of purchasing a second NICU/pediatric ambulance as vital to the health and safety of our kids.”

“We are so grateful to partners like Georgia’s Own, who share our commitment to serving Albany and are willing to support large-scale initiatives that will make a long-term impact on the community,” Baggett said.
