GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - An interim superintendent has been announced following the death of former Grady County Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric McFee.

Grady County School Human Resource Director Dr. Jamie Horne has been named the interim superintendent for Grady County Schools.

The Grady County Board of Education said Dr. Horne was chosen because of his “clear commitment to continuing the positive direction of the District already established.”

“In choosing an internal leader, the Board sought someone who not only shares the district’s long-term vision but can also provide steady, uninterrupted guidance during this transition. Also, the district chose Dr. Horne in this interim capacity because he does not intend to apply for the permanent Superintendent position when the formal search begins.

The Board is confident that Dr. Horne’s experience, integrity, and dedication will help maintain the momentum and stability essential to the success of Grady County Schools."

Dr. Horne will begin his duties as interim superintendent on Monday, Dec. 1.
