ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a body was found inside of a vehicle on Wednesday, Dec. 17 near Joshua Street in Albany, according to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler.
Fowler originally said this case was a “suspicious death.” He has since confirmed that this is a homicide case.
According to Fowler and the Albany Police Department (APD), the body of a 38-year-old Black man was found in a vehicle in the wooded area near Joshua Street. It is unclear at this time whether the vehicle was owned by the man who was found in it.
The man’s family is reportedly being notified now.
Officials said they moved the vehicle from the Joshua Street location to continue the investigation.
The call came in to the coroner’s office around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
