TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) — First Baptist Church in Tifton held its sixth annual Recovery Fest on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Fulwood Park.

Residents and community members who are battling addiction, needed help or support or just wanted to learn more information were able to find free resources to help them or someone they know on their healing journey.

Different groups such as Tift County Council on Child Abuse, Bikers Against Child Abuse and Behavioral Health Group were present to answer questions and give out information.

Individuals also had the opportunity to share their testimony about their journey.

One of those individuals was Shane Harrell, who struggled with drugs for 30 years. Now, she’s been free for five years and five months of drug use.

“I have the ultimate peace, and I have freedom that I’ve never had before. It makes me feel great,” said Harrell.

She’s now using her freedom to pour back into others as they embark on their journey to recovery. She co-leads a step study for women every Wednesday in hopes that they can find the same healing she found.

“It makes my day. It makes my life because that’s what I’m supposed to do. I’m supposed to tell my story in hopes that something I say can help save someone else who’s been in the same place I’ve been,” she said.
