ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — A man was arrested Wednesday, March 18, following a police pursuit down Palmyra Road in Albany. Police said the man was involved in a shooting incident Wednesday morning.

The Albany Police Department (APD) confirmed that the man who was fleeing from APD officers and Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office deputies was arrested in the 800 block of 8th Avenue following the chase.

APD said the man was Dresaun White, a 28-year-old who was identified as the suspect in a shooting incident Wednesday morning.

Police said they responded to the 1400 block of 6th Avenue at about 10 a.m. Wednesday after reports that someone was shot. The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown.

Using FLOCK cameras, APD said they identified the shooting suspect’s vehicle as White’s maroon Ford sedan. Officers reportedly located the vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but White did not comply.

A pursuit, shown in the above video, ensued, with assistance from the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office. APD said that White eventually abandoned the vehicle on North Madison Street and began running from officers.

Shortly after abandoning the vehicle, police say White was apprehended and taken to the Dougherty County Jail.

A firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition were recovered from the vehicle, APD said.

White is charged with the following, according to police:

• Aggravated Assault - Firearms
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes
• Additional charges related to fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement

APD said that a second suspect involved in the shooting incident remains unidentified and at large. Officials said investigators are actively working to find that individual.
