Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - WALB obtained new surveillance images showing some of the last known moments of Eric Glaze, who vanished after leaving a hospital in Albany in 2024.

“We haven’t had any help, we need help, could we please get help? We just want closure,” said Latisa Wright, Glaze’s niece.

Surveillance video shows Glaze taking a hard fall outside of Brother’s convenience store, where he worked.

Glaze was then taken to Phoebe Putney Hospital, where another camera caught him walking out of the building. That was the last time anyone is known to have seen him.

WALB has requested that surveillance footage from the Albany Police Department (APD) and is waiting for a response.

WALB previously reported that prior to the fall on May 30, 2024.

“I felt like something happened in that backroom for him to walk out, stumble and fall,” said Latesha Majors, Glaze’s niece.

Glaze fell at work and had to be taken to Phoebe then as well.

His family believes these reported falls may have triggered a chain of events leading to his disappearance.

“We searched behind the hospital, around the hospital, we searched vacant houses, nothing, no body, and still unanswered questions: “Where is the body?” said Latisa.

Based on the surveillance footage from Phoebe, APD told WALB that “We can determine that he left the hospital at his own will, but he did appear to be moving slow and appeared to be disoriented.”

“Where is the GBI, where is the big detective? I mean, this boy been missing — just vanished out of thin air. Really? We can’t even say there’s Waldo — all we can say is Where is Waldo? Really?” said Shirley Wright, Glaze’s sister.

Glaze’s family shared with WALB some concerns and even some theories about what they believe happened to their loved one. Which led to us asking APD some important questions to help bring some closure to this family, such as if the GBI was called in to assist with this case, and if not, why?

“The GBI was not called in for this investigation, as our department handles its own cases. The GBI is typically requested for officer-involved incidents, and calling them in is at the discretion of the Chief based on the circumstances.”

But for the Glaze family, hope is running thin. What they want now is closure, even if that means assistance from the GBI.

“I can’t see him anymore, and all I want to do is just hold him for the last time,” said Shirley.

On Wednesday, WALB reached out to the store for comment about the two fall incidents, and they declined to comment, asking us to call back on Thursday.

APD says this case is a cold case. The family also has a $1,000 reward for anyone who has information.

If you know anything about what happened to Eric Glaze, you’re urged to contact APD at (229) 431-2100.
