Description
DOOLY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) requested the public’s help in obtaining video or information from a deadly hit-and-run on Tuesday, June 17. Troopers said a pedestrian was hit and killed by what they believe was a semi-truck on I-75 around 6 a.m. in Dooly County.
The pedestrian was standing near his vehicle on the shoulder of the southbound lane of I-75, near mile marker 109, when it’s believed a semi-truck failed to maintain its lane, hitting and killing the pedestrian, according to GSP. Mile marker 109 is near exit 109 in Vienna.
Troopers said the driver, who left the scene, is suspected of driving a semi-truck with right-side headlight damage.
The pedestrian was identified as Richard Alan Dykes of Cochran, Georgia, GSP said.
The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, Troop H, is investigating the crash. The suspected vehicle is believed to be traveling south on I-75, GSP said. Officials asked anyone with information to call the Troop H Radio Room at (229)386-3333.
