DOUGLAS — Citizens Christian Academy guard Arabelle Roberts earned Albany State University Player of the Week honors following a standout postseason run that ended with a 51-39 loss to Memorial Day in the GIAA Class A State Championship game.
Roberts carried the Lady Pats in the semifinal, scoring 41 points before following up with 14 points in the title game.
‘Score as many points as I have to’
Roberts said her approach is straightforward when her team needs her to take over.
“Score as many points as I have to for us to win the game, you know, get in the paint, and then when they all crash, just kick the ball out for threes,” Roberts said.
Setting the tone on both ends
Roberts is also credited as a tone setter on the defensive side of the ball. She said teammate and lone senior Abrah Harris has played a key role in her growth as a leader.
“Harris helps me. She keeps me motivated to keep everyone going,” Roberts said. “You know, CCA is a great school. We have so many sports that we’re great at.”
