Looking ahead there really isn’t much rainfall in the forecast. There is a chance for a couple sprinkles and light showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, but chances for beneficial and widespread rainfall this week is near zero. Expect drought conditions to continue to worsen through the upcoming week.

Due to the extremely dry conditions, and not to mention, the temperatures look to be in the 80s for most of the week, concerns for fires will be high. Expect more hazy days across SGA, along with isolated areas seeing harmful air qualities (especially with locations near fires) this upcoming week. Air quality generally worsens in the evening and overnight (the smoke sinks to the ground, while it normally rises up and mixes higher in the atmosphere during the day). It is advised to stay inside during those times if you are susceptible to smoke. It is also advised to avoid burning if you can when conditions like this are in place.

One good thing about smoke and hazy conditions during the day, is that it normally sets the stage for wonderfully vivid sunsets in the evening. Expect to see a few of those as well over the next handful of days.
