Description

BERRIEN COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - WALB has new details about a death investigation that began Tuesday out of Berrien County, which the sheriff said could have stemmed from a “possible road rage” incident. The victim’s family says the road rage incident involved a minor and another driver. The victim has now been identified as Mickey Dewayne Tuggle (47).

According to an incident report from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), deputies were alerted to a reckless driver along Highway 76 East and J. Henry Gaskins Road in Nashville around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The report says a driver called in about a vehicle speeding and driving aggressively, reaching speeds of around 80 miles per hour.

Tuggle’s adult daughter, Brianna, said the “aggressive driver” followed her minor family member home, brake-checking her along the way. According to Brianna, after the minor got home, Mickey Tuggle got in his truck to follow the “aggressive driver” to get their tag number. That is when Brianna said her father was shot and killed.

There were no further details on the sheriff’s office report about the incident, except that the case was later classified as a “deceased person incident.”

WALB has attempted to confirm the sequence of events with law enforcement about what transpired between the time that the call came into law enforcement and when Tuggle died. We requested a copy of the 911 call that came in about the incident, but were told it was part of an active investigation. The BCSO requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Brianna Tuggle said her father was loved by many and will hold on to his memory.

“He is so goofy, so silly. Everything was always a good time with him. I do want to note that he was an even better grandfather than a father. He loved nothing more than being a PopPop,” Brianna said.

A high-placed source close to the investigation says the people involved in this incident did not know one another.

The family said they are accepting donations for a proper burial.

WALB will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
