Description

SOUTH GEORGIA — More than 50 student-athletes from across South Georgia officially signed to continue their careers at the collegiate level Wednesday, marking National Signing Day as a major milestone for programs, families and communities.

Schools hosted signing ceremonies with teammates, coaches and family members as athletes celebrated years of preparation including early mornings, practices, film sessions, weight room hours and weekend travel.

The signings reflect program culture for coaches and represent a proud payoff for parents. For the athletes, the commitments mark the start of a new chapter with new expectations in the classroom and competition.

Many signees will stay in-state, while others are heading across the Southeast and beyond, carrying South Georgia with them as they pursue goals at the collegiate level.

National Signing Day marks one of the biggest days on the high school sports calendar when student-athletes make commitments official.

You can hear from the athletes and their coaches Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on Sports Talk. Watch live on WALB-ABC, walb.com or the WALB App.
