Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - On October 10, 2018, Hurricane Michael hit Southwest Georgia.
The devastating Category 5 storm affected the entire western side of Georgia, eastern Alabama and the Florida panhandle. Southwest Georgia counties Seminole, Decatur and Miller experienced wind gusts reaching 115 miles per hour.
Thousands of south Georgians were left without power, and an 11-year-old from Seminole County died after a carport crashed through the roof of her house.
When reflecting on the storm a year later, one Seminole County man said “it looked like a chainsaw literally went down the street.”
