Description
GEORGIA (WALB) - TSA officers are offering travelers their top tips for navigating airport security efficiently. With insider knowledge of what slows down or speeds up the screening process, these six “dos and don’ts” can make your airport experience smoother.
Top 6 TSA “Dos”:
- Enter your full name exactly as it appears on your ID when booking your ticket.
- Enroll in TSA PreCheck® for faster screening. Children 17 and under can join their parent in the PreCheck lane.
- Download the free myTSA app to check wait times, flight delays, and packing rules.
- Wear easy-to-remove shoes and socks for quicker security checks.
- Use your wait time wisely by emptying all items from your pockets and placing them in your carry-on.
- Place your phone in your carry-on bag, not in a shared bin with shoes.
6 Things TSA Officers Never Do When Flying:
- Joke about explosives or claim to have a bomb.
- Put pets or children through the X-ray machine.
- Bring firearms through a checkpoint without following proper airline procedures.
- Use their mouth to hold IDs or small items.
- Place small items directly on the X-ray belt instead of using a bin.
- Bring water bottles through security; empty bottles are allowed to refill on the secure side.
Following these tips can help travelers breeze through security while keeping everyone safe.
