MACON, Ga. (WGXA) — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects in connection with an Entering Auto investigation that occurred early Saturday morning.

Just after 2:00 a.m. on October 11, 2025, deputies responded to the Holiday Inn Macon North, located at 3953 River Place Drive, after reports of vehicle alarms and two male suspects seen entering automobiles.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspects—dressed in all black—fled the scene in a blue SUV. Deputies spotted the vehicle on Riverside Drive and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, leading deputies on a pursuit. When the suspects reached Napier Avenue near Brookdale Avenue, multiple occupants ran from the vehicle.

Two suspects were caught after a brief foot chase. Deputies recovered a firearm with an extended magazine and several automobile key fobs. The SUV used in the incident was later determined to be stolen out of Warner Robins and was recovered.

The suspects were identified as a 16-year-old juvenile and 17-year-old Jay’Shawn Lamar Smith, both from Macon. The juvenile was charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and two counts of Entering Automobile. He was released to his parents pending a court hearing.

Smith was charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, two counts of Entering Automobile, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, and multiple traffic violations. He remains in custody at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without bond.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME (1-877-682-7463).
