Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - An Albany State University student is working with county leaders to organize a community-wide cleanup effort to address the ongoing litter problem in Albany and Dougherty County.
Jordan Boyd, a political science student at ASU, recently met with county officials to discuss solutions to the litter issue. Boyd is collaborating with local organizations and officials to promote the cleanup initiative, with a focus on encouraging student participation and community responsibility.
Building a legacy of service
“As students, we’re not just picking up trash, we’re actually setting an example for the future,” Boyd said. “We want to continue building this legacy of showing the younger generation that we’re out here doing the groundwork, even on top of the jobs and classwork that we have to do.”
Boyd said the effort aims to build community and make it beautiful.
The cleanup efforts are scheduled to take place around Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The initiative will bring together students, families and community members to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service.
