OCILLA, Ga. (WALB) - Three men are in custody after a late-night operation at Woodlands Apartments in Ocilla, following a violent shooting earlier in the day on Tuesday, March 10, according to a press release from the South Central Drug Task Force.

Around midnight (Wednesday, March 11), agents with the South Central Drug Task Force were called in to assist the Ocilla Police Department with executing an arrest warrant and search warrant at the apartment complex. Investigators say those warrants stemmed directly from a shooting incident that occurred hours before.

According to law enforcement, the swift response by Ocilla Police Department patrol officers immediately after the shooting was critical. Officers on scene were able to gather details and intelligence, allowing investigators to quickly begin reconstructing what happened and identifying potential suspects.

Throughout the evening, the Ocilla Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division worked to develop probable cause, interview witnesses, and secure warrants.

With support from the Irwin County Sheriff’s Office, officers and task force agents launched a coordinated operation at Woodlands Apartments. The three male suspects were located and arrested without incident, authorities said.

“Our goal is always to resolve dangerous situations safely and quickly, protecting both officers and the community,” the South Central Drug Task Force said in a statement.

Officials emphasized their appreciation for the citizens of Ocilla, whose tips and cooperation helped move the investigation forward.

“Violence in our communities will not be tolerated,” the statement continued. “Through teamwork, intelligence sharing, and decisive action, local law enforcement agencies will continue working together to keep our neighborhoods safe.”
