GEORGIA (WALB) -U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is bringing federal resources to Georgia to help fight fentanyl trafficking and protect families across the state.

Working in a bipartisan effort, Sen. Ossoff helped pass legislation that became law on Feb. 3, providing $150 million to combat the flow of fentanyl, fentanyl precursors, and other synthetic drugs into the United States.

“Illegal fentanyl trafficking is devastating Georgia families and putting our kids at risk. We brought Republicans and Democrats together to crack down on fentanyl trafficking and protect Georgia families.”

How the Funding Will Be Used

The new federal resources will:

  • Support law enforcement efforts to dismantle transnational criminal organizations producing and trafficking fentanyl.
  • Improve supply chain oversight to prevent illegal drug distribution.
  • Promote public engagement and address the health and security threats posed by fentanyl.
