WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Joe Biden will address the nation Thursday from the White House Rose Garden one day after Vice President Kamala Harris officially conceded to Donald Trump.
He is expected to give an address at 11 a.m. ET, according to the White House.
President-elect Donald Trump won the election with more than 270 electoral votes after Biden stepped aside in July and endorsed the vice president.
Biden spoke out about the election results for the first time on Wednesday noting that Harris "stepped up and led a historic campaign that embodied what's possible when guided by a strong moral compass and a clear vision."
The White House also shared Wednesday that Biden had spoken to Trump following his victory and shared a commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and wanting to bring the country together.
During Harris' speech at heralma mater, Howard University, in Washington, D.C., she encouraged voters to accept the results of the election.
She added that while the results are not what she and her team fought for, she claimed her "heart is full" and remains optimistic about the future of the nation.
“A fundamental principle of democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results," she said. "That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny, and anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it.”
She told the crowd she called Trump to congratulate him, saying she plans to help him and his team with their transition back into the White House in a "peaceful transfer of power."
