Description
LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A 5-year-old boy has died after being in a crash while driving a utility terrain vehicle (UTV).
On the evening of Friday, September 19, the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) was asked to assist the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of a reported UTV crash involving a 5-year-old boy.
According to GSP, the crash occurred at a residence in the 400 block of Martindale Drive. They say that the child was driving a Polaris 200 RSR in the front yard when the crash occurred.
GSP reports that based on evidence observed at the scene, it appears that the child drove out of his parents’ line of sight, overturned the UTV, and was ejected from the vehicle.
The child was found unresponsive in the front yard near the vehicle and was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, where he later died from his injuries.
GSP is continuing to investigate this crash. WALB will continue to follow this story and update you when we know more.
