ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reports Georgia has surpassed the number of water-related deaths for the entire year of 2023. With the upcoming tubing on the Flint, safety is top of mind for many, including the Flint Riverkeepers.
“This year alone, we’ve reported on five major incidents where people have drowned,” Gordon Rogers, executive director and Riverkeeper Guarding, said. “One of those being got a holding pond on Westover Road or four of those being at the Flint River where people have drowned.
Rogers said there will be multiple layers of safety this weekend.

Tickets are $10 and include tube rental, shuttle, and parking. The shuttle leaves Flint Riverkeeper at 1:00 p.m. and we expect to return by 3 p.m.
